The Foolhardy Manor is a sketch and improv comedy group made up of eight NJ natives – well, seven, and an Ohio emigrant. They regularly sell out shows at the Peoples Improv Theater and perform in other venues in New York City and New Jersey – sometimes on the same night! They have created holiday-themed, improvised sketch shows such as The Ghoulhardy Manor and TFM’s Post-Christmas Show. The group made it to the semi-finals of The P.I.T.’s Sketch-Prov tournament in 2009 and have appeared as special guests of The Upset Triangle, Audience of Two and The Dream NYC. They are known for their smart, high-energy material, and they welcome you to check out their live shows and videos. Also, they’re very nice people.
Our cast is:
MATTHEW ALLEN was Ohio born and raised. Growing up in close proximity to many of his immediate family members provided him with the necessary love and attention to develop his sense of humor at an early age. He has been honing his defense mechanism ever since. Nowadays, Matthew works at a job he greatly enjoys, writes his pop culture and television blog http://imattmypants.com, writes and performs with seven other ne’er-do-wells in The Foolhardy Manor, and also with his partner in naivety in the comedy duo – Jamber*Tronix. He also travels back to his tiny Midwestern town any chance he gets.
CHRIS AURILIO is from Edison, NJ, but was born in Chicago when his parents were on a layover to California. He went to high school to meet Anik, then went to Seton Hall to meet Meghan, Dan, Manoli, and Matt. Then, he went to Montclair State to get a masters degree in theatre studies and meet Phil. He then went back to Seton Hall to teach some classes in TV and theatre and also to meet Gary. Now he gets to play with all of them all the time at places like The Peoples Improv Theater, where he also works as the managing assistant.
PHILIP CASALE (if that truly is his name) may have had his memories given to him by the mysterious
organization known as M.A.Y.O.R, which he possibly runs. Philip exhibits skilled interest in acting, singing, writing, make-up effects, and music.
At a very young age, he wanted to do everything. Though his birth certificate reads 1983, no one can be too sure. They can be sure to have seen him in Strangedog Theater Company’s original production of “Ouroboros,” a one-man show written by Ben Clawson and directed by Artem Yatsunov. He has also been spotted on various stages across Northern Jersey, and on the internet in Chelsea Smith’s film “Pavlov Was An Asshole” and Aaron Altenkirch’s critically-acclaimed “Philip Casale Slapped in 2008.” Phil is not a doctor.
MEGHAN CONDA grew up in Cinnaminson, NJ surrounded by a loving family and lots of Catholic schooling. She discovered she was funny at a very young age when she realized it was the easiest way to get a lot of attention and not end up a juvenile delinquent. Learning the art of improv in college was the best thing she ever did, since it gave her a formal outlet for her natural goofiness. She now performs sketch and improv comedy with her six favorite New Jersey dudes—and also one guy from Ohio. Even though she is a member of The Foolhardy Manor, she is also a girl.
GARY DE NOIA is from Union, NJ, but now lives in a West Jersey town named after the President’s place of residence. He had been a professional thief his entire life until college. Just for the hell of it, he auditioned for the play One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. He landed a part, which served as the birth of his love for the arts. After graduating Seton Hall University with a degree in television and film, he continued his education at the greatest place on earth: The Peoples Improv Theater. He is a proud alumnus who is fortunate enough to have studied with Ali Farahnakian, Scott Eckert, Pat Shay, Nate Starkey, Pat Shepard, and Sarah Nowak. As a mutant, he has the ability to manipulate kinetic energy as well as hypnotic charm. He also skilled in card throwing, hand-to-hand combat and the use of a staff.
DANIEL KECK was born in the Year of Our Lord 1984 and grew up in the town of Cherry Hill, NJ (aka The CH) the eldest of four awesome siblings. The Global Blackout, where Dan saw himself in the year 2030 relating to his children the story of how he met their mother, did not prepare him for when his former best friend from Seton Hall, Neil Caffery, now a well know con artist, sent him a CIA/NSA database that allowed him to flash and recall government secrets, the most dangerous of which involved the understanding of a mysterious island somewhere in the South Pacific, forcing him to work as a spy with an agent named Jack Bauer, until the day he was burned and left in the North Jersey/New York area. While using his expertice in mathematics to assist the FBI’s Fringe Science Division in fighting off a secret alien invasion that provided the inspiration for his next series of best selling mystery novels, Dan became one of the founding members of a group of con artists/criminals know as The Foolhardy Manor that help out the common man where the law fails by providing laughter through sketch and improv comedy.
When not performing with the group, Dan tends to watch a small amount of television.
ANIK SOOD grew up in Edison, NJ, where he met and first began performing with Chris. He then went on to Rutgers, where he performed with the College Avenue Players in a host of productions. Later, he went to the Cardozo School of Law, where he performed with Law Revue. Anik is an actor, attorney, writer and dreamer, and he has a talent for appearing only in the back of every photo the group shoots, because he usually doesn’t like his hair that day.
EMMANUEL VOZOS grew up in Union, NJ with his incredible Greek-American family from the sun-drenched isle of Karpathos. Familiarly known as Manoli, he graduated Union public schools with help from the Boys & Girls Club and finished Greek School at St. Demetrios in Union. In high school, he joined the magical community of Camp Fatima, continuing his time there every August. He went on to study Film/TV/Theater at Seton Hall University, graduating with a B.A. in Communication in 2007. By day, he is a mild-mannered, if not grumpy, locations assistant for the longest running prime-time drama in TV history: Law & Order. By night and weekend, he is proud to be 1/8th of the best gang of comedic trouble-makers to come around this millennium. Watch the skies.
That Phil guy once told my wife,” I’m not a gynecologist, but I’ll have a look at it!”
Where can I find that guy?
